Cross River communities; Wanihem, Wanikade Communal War In Pictures.

A communal crisis has emerged in Cross River State and has affected over 5 communities in the last 2 years.

Earlier, towards the end of the month of June, two communities in Yakurr Local Government area clashed on land disputes. Which led to over 15 deaths, and properties worth millions destroyed.

Similarly, two sister communities had also clashed on same issue of land. Wanikade and Wanihem communities of Yala LGA in Cross River State. All crisis took place in a space of one week distance.

Cross River which was reffered to as the safest state earlier in the month of June by the Executive Gov. Sen. Ben Ayade, has now been put to doubt. Remember that the Governor of the state, stated this at a meeting between the Army and the Police in the Capital City also in June.

Recall that there was tension as both security agencies clashed and had a share of their own war just before the intervention of the governor and senior officers of th security agencies.

Several families had fled home as casualties was recorded at about 15 injuries and houses burnt.

Although, security agencies are heard to have been called upon in a bid to try to return normalcy between the both communities. The government had deployed Army and police to the area.

According to sources, other sister communities of the Ukelle Nation had held a meeting in regards to the situation. Communities From the Southern part of Ukelle and those of North where the war in taking place, met to find a resolve to the dispute.

In resolution, it was gathered that several chieftains attended and resolved that the war between Wnikade and Wanihem be rested immediately without further delays. And that if there be heard the sound of a gunshot again in those communities, the defaulting community would have the rest of the Ukelle Nation to contend with.

And that, every arms be surrendered to the appropriate security agencies who are in-field. And if there also be found secrete sponsors, they must face the rot of the law.
